Our virtual Annual Meeting for Members & Partners was a hit! We welcomed our newest Board Members, representing several of our member organizations: Candace Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer, New York Center for Interpersonal Development NYCID; Orit Lender, Incoming Chief Executive Officer, JCC of Staten Island; and Jennifer Lytton-Hirsch, Chief Operating Officer, Community Health Action of Staten Island. CONGRATULATIONS and welcome aboard!
We virtually celebrated long-time founding board member of Staten Island Nonprofit and the SI COAD, David Sorkin who retired from his role as CEO of the SI JCC and will stay on as an Honorary Board Member. As well as former chair and longtime board member Meg Ventrudo, who has moved on from the Tibetan Museum.
We remembered fondly community leader and former CEO of NYCID and Staten Island Nonprofit Board Member Dominick Brancato, who passed this spring.
We are grateful to NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer for addressing us and answering critical questions affecting our sector during this time, and our elected officials Staten Island Borough President Jimmy Oddo, Congressman Max Rose, and Assembly member Michael Cusick.
It was a treat to collect videos highlighting the work of our members, including Bait-ul Jamaat, PanAfrican Cultural Center, Volunteer Heart Ambulance, Emma’s Place, PCCS, the Grace Foundation, the Pride Center, Snug Harbor and Eden II, which we’ll profile in the coming weeks.
We also heard words of hope and encouragement from our Executive Director Sharmila Rao Thakkar and Board Chair Adrienne Abbate.
